All account activities are available for you to view in the app under “Ride History” where you can see the total ride fares for each ride. All per-minute ride prices are rounded up to the nearest minute.
Please note that members are billed weekly. Ride fees from each previous week are combined into one charge. Go to your billing information in the Payment section of your app to see your next billing date.
If there's a charge in your account that you don't recognize, it might be one of the following:
Locking a bike out of station
BIKETOWN bikes may be locked free of charge in designated areas such as BIKETOWN stations, specially marked public staple racks (look for the orange BIKETOWN sticker), super hub zone (east of 72nd Ave) and pop-up hubs (temporary stations for special events).
Users may park their bikes at non-BIKETOWN racks, but in doing so within the bounds of the service area, will be charged a $1 “ Ride finished outside of hub” fee.
Locking a bike out of the service area
There is a $25 “Ride finished outside of hub” fee to lock a bike to a public bike rack outside the system area. To avoid these, we encourage users to lock bikes at official BIKETOWN stations.
Free-locking a bike
There is a $25 fee for locking bikes only to themselves. Free locking bikes leaves bikes vulnerable to theft and blocks pathways for pedestrians. To avoid this fee, always lock the bike securely to a bike or secure pole when not in use, even when putting the bike on Hold.
Lost bike charge
A bike that has been out for more than 24 consecutive hours is considered lost or stolen. The renter is responsible for returning the bike to the system and locking it correctly. You may be charged a $1,500 (plus tax) fee to replace a bike that has been lost or stolen.
Avoid lost bike fees by always ensuring your bike has been properly locked to a bike rack. You can also set up notifications on your phone, so you’ll be alerted when your ride has ended successfully.
Payment authorizations
BIKETOWN uses temporary authorizations to confirm your payment method works and has enough funds to cover bike ride costs. Learn more about payment authorizations here.
